Some of my enrichment offerings include yoga workshops and classes for teens. I incorporate Prana Flow yoga with meditation, journaling, discussion, reflection and creative self-learning activities. This approach allows teens to learn important tools they can apply to all aspects of their lives.
- The philosophies of yoga promote: self-learning, self-expression, self-acceptance, developing inner and outer strength, positive relationships, compassion, commitment to service, leadership, honest communication, use of intuition to guide decisions and attention to the present moment
- The practice of yoga supports and enhances all aspects of learning. It allows people to experience knowledge through their bodies and incorporate learning through movement, breath and intuition, rather than solely from their mind and outer world.
- Yoga helps teens create space in their life that is just for them: time to breathe, to relax their minds, reduce stress, energize, strengthen their bodies and balance their moods.
- Yoga can also be helpful for teens struggling with more complex life issues, such as: depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance abuse, difficult situations within the family and with friends.
